LIFE AFTER SCHOOL MARKS 6TH ANNIVERSARY

On Thursday, 27th of May, 2021, an organization named life after school clocked 6 and they celebrated this anniversary in grand style by organizing a ‘get it right now’ program at 3 secondary schools located in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo states respectively, a street food sharing outreach at the Iwo road roundabout and a 3-hour worship session at the YME studios

Life after school, an organization aimed at developing a better generation of youths in Africa and across the globe. This aim they achieve by organizing value impacting conferences and outreaches at tertiary institutions and secondary schools respectively. This organization who commenced operation on the 27th of May 2016 had the maiden edition of their conference at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-iwoye and due to the positive result of that, they have been propelled to do more and as of today, they have been able to organize better conferences at other universities such as the University of Ibadan, Lagos state polytechnic and Lagos state university. Each of these conferences has been graced by people such as GBOYEGA NASIRI ISIAKA, JAPHETH OMOJUWA, ADENIYI JOHNSON, THE PAMILERIN, MAKINDE MANKIND, FRANK DONGA, and many more.

Over the years, life after school has proven to be an organization whose core focus is to impact positive values and improve the lives of young adults and youths at large. This they further reiterated with the way they went about celebrating their sixth anniversary. The anniversary was a 1 week-long set of events and on the first day, which was on Monday, 24th of May 2021, a team from the organization were at Adeola Odutola College, Ijebuode, Ogun state and Tokem Academy, Ipaja, Lagos state while on Wednesday, 26th of May, the 3rd team were at Bashorun high school, Ibadan, Oyo state where the students were enlightened on the topic tagged ‘GET IT RIGHT NOW’ and branded stationery was shared amongst them. On the 26th, the team visited the Iwo road roundabout to reach out to out-of-school students, have them believe its not over for them and give them food to ease a part of their pain. The team understands the journey and what has been faced and saw the need to give thanks to God. This they did by holding a 3-hour worship session at the YME studios.

Mr fagbore Abiola, the founder and convener of life after school in his statement about the need for the outreach reiterated the fact that the younger generation is exposed to a lot of value diminishing content and therefore efforts have to be made to correct them and get them prepared for life even while at a very young age. The age range of the students in mind is split between the school the those out of school and that is why they had to split the outreach between these 2 sets and try to provide them with what they need the most. He further emphasized the need for education and the fact that it remains a legacy and even when applied to entrepreneurship skills, it becomes better.

The staff, students, and every other partaker of the random programs later gave credit to the organization for coming up with those programs as they have been impacted positively and they promised to put to use everything they have been told.

FATAL ACCIDENT: FALLING CONTAINER KILLS A WOMAN AT ALAPERE AREA OF OGUDU, LAGOS

..…..as car driver survives unhurt with support by Lastma Officials.

A fully loaded 40fts Mack articulated truck today fell on a Nissan Car (ABJ 692 BG) and instantly killed a woman at the rear of the car while the car driver survived unhurt with support by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Officials by N.N.P.C inward Estate, Alapere, Lagos.

The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA Mr. Adebayo Taofiq confirmed that the driver of the Mack articulated truck with his motor-boy ran away immediately the fatal accident occurred.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of Mack articulated 40 ft fully loaded container, while on a high speed lost control as a result of a brake failure and rammed into a moving Nissan car on motion by N.N.P.C inward Alapere, Ogudu along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Lagos.

Lastma Alabi Olukayode (Zone 2, Ogudu/Alapere) disclosed that Lastma handed over the evacuated dead body (woman) to Police men from Alapere Police Station.

According to Zebra Alabi Olukayode, “lastma officials and passers-by including the LASEMA Response Unit (LRU) were involved in the rescue operations.

Other emergency responders at the scene of the fatal accident include Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Police.

Also at the accident scene were the LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, LASTMA Director of Traffic Incidents, Event Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance Mr. Hakeem Adeosun and the LASTMA rescue team.

General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Olalekan Bakare Oki however warned motoring public particularly truck drivers to stop over speeding and ensure their vehicles are properly checked including the braking system before embarking on any journey within or outside the State.

Heavy security, as oyo Crown Prince performed Eid fitri in Oyo

Prince Afeez Siyanbola Oladigbolu joined Oyo faithful Muslims to perform Eid fitri prayer at oyo Central. The crown prince urged the faithful Muslims to continue their kindness after the month of mercy (Ramadan).

He further stated that the way Muslims round the world stayed calm and showed kindness to those in needy should not be discontinued after the Ramadan.

According to the grandson of the 40th alaafin of oyo, Oba Abubakar siyanbola Oladigbolu. He is personally unhappy with the current situation of the ancient town (oyo)

We don’t have alaafin and Chief Imam. The two vacumes remain unfilled due to the passage of the oba abdul hammed adeyemi the 3rd and late mashood adebayo ajokidero. Chief imam of oyo.

The absence of alaafin has led the town to the state of stagnancy since oba adeyemi joined his ancestors in April 2022.

The young prince challenged the Muslim leaders and communities to be fervent in unstoppable prayer for almighty’s intervention.

The crown prince also addressed the youths to be calm and stay away from violence. Violence Leeds to crime , while crime leads to jail. He further advised the youth to abstain from being used against the government. Nobody or group of people have the capacities to fight the government at any level.
If the political behavioural patern of any candidate is not going down with you, wait for the next election and vote such a candidate out. That is the civil way of reaction. Violence, insults, and most especially courses on our leaders will not change anything , let’s pray for them so that they can always fulfil their campaign promises.

Finally, the youngest contender to the vacant stool of alaafin extended the hand of assistance to the senior citizens.

FCT Minister, Wike Appoints Dr. Maureen Tamuno as GMD Managing Director of Abuja Investment Company Limited

The Minister for Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has appointed Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, as the new Group Managing Director for the Abuja Investment Company Limited.

 

A statement from the Minister’s Office released to the media in Abuja, Thursday, says that the appointment takes immediate effect.

 

The statement said Tamuno is an “experienced public officer, entrepreneur, and diplomat”, who was Nigerian High Commissioner to Jamaica, Belize, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

 

Oftentimes, the woman Tamuno, has proven her stewardship to the selfless cause, having served in different capacities.

 

Before her position as an ambassador, Tamuno has held several positions, including her tenure as a top lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly. Her beautiful story as the representative of her people in the Ogubolo Constituency remains one still being told in glowing terms.

 

Following her appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Jamaica in 2021, Tamuno immediately hit the ground running by showcasing herself as a perfect embodiment of panache and progressive diplomacy. Since then, she has proved beyond any doubt that she knows her onion very well by taking her assignment seriously as if she was born for the job.

 

She was always in the news for positive reasons and gradually established herself as a thoroughbred diplomat, while at the same time rewriting Nigeria’s diplomatic relationship with Jamaica in a positive note.

 

So, it is not surprising that her new appointment from the FCT minister has received applause and commendations from those that know her worth. Deservedly, she has been showered with encomium from her fans and admirers that spoke about her in glowing terms.
