Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Still Blazing the Trail at 47

Coming to a logical conclusion,  His Imperial Majesty Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi is more than just a king. His omoluwabi demeanor and graceful gait command respect across Yoruba land. Apart from sitting on the highly revered throne as the representative of Oduduwa; ever since he was handed the staff of office as the 51st Ooni of Ife; there has been tremendous change across Yoruba land both home and in the diaspora. Despite the amount of influence he wields in the country, he remains one of the most humble monarchs Nigeria has ever produced. Under his reign, his Ile-Ife palace has been a mecca of sort for all sundry has he thrown his gate open.

Like his name Enitan meaning (an individual with a deep story), his sojourn to kingship remains a mystery only God can unravel. If a soothsayer had told him years ago he would be occupying such a revered position he would have laughed over it with a wave of a hand. His anointing as Ooni is divine which is the main reason he has flourished within a short while. The Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka has never for once disappointed the entire Yoruba race with his giant strides in putting the Yoruba culture and tradition on the world map. After his emergence as Ooni; he resuscitated and repackaged all the dead cultural festivals. He is a bridge-builder who has broken many impeccable records within his 5 years reign. Despite numerous aspersions and disparaging comments meted on him as regards his personal life, with a smile on his face he constantly prays for his detractors. He has remained unperturbed focusing more on working to make sure the Yoruba race recovers its lost glory.

The stylish and youthful king clocked age 47 on Sunday the 17th of October, On the eve of his birthday at exactly 12:00 am on Sunday, Olori Naomi made a loud noise across the ancient city with over 30 minutes display of fireworks to celebrate her hubby. Ooni’s close friends, sons and daughters of the kingdom thronged out to witness the beautiful fireworks display. They immediately moved into the hall and had a short prayer session where Kabiyesi thanked those who made it down to surprise him on his big day. Later that day, at the Ife Grand resort, family and friends hosted a birthday dinner incorporated with several displays of cultural performances as he was presented with gifted an array of gigantic birthday cake and gifts. On Monday the 18th, he gave out 20 million Naira gift to victims of human trafficking he facilitated their return back to Nigeria from Libia, Lebanon and Mali. He also pledged to support a movie project against human trafficking with 50 million Naira.

On the 7th of December, plans are ongoing to celebrate the Olofin Adimula who will be celebrating his 6th coronation anniversary amidst fanfare.
