Published

Anytime Mike Agbolade Adenuga, known as the spirit of Africa sleeps, little wonder what goes through his mind. Those close to him averred that; all he does day and night is thinking of things to do that will be of interest to the economy of Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Ever since his foray into the telecommunication business, breaking barriers as the first indigenous telecommunication service provider in Nigeria with Globacom, giving other foreign brands a run for their money, the Bull is definitely a pacesetter.

What seems impossible for his rivals, he made possible. At a time when networks were charging per minute on calls, Adenuga in the spirit of fairness and patriotism crashed to per-second billing leaving his rivals with no choice than to follow his lead. Till date, the abstract business magnate equated to a spirit that is not seen but with an impact widely felt remains top of the business owners in Nigeria who has empowered the Nigerian entertainment sector. He practically engaged all entertainers with mouthwatering deals as they racked in millions of Naira in endorsement deals.

When French President Emmanuel Macron conferred on him the Knight of the Legion of Honour (Chevalier de la Legion d Honneur), becoming the first and only Nigerian to be conferred with the highest French decoration, little did many know that Macron is a man who sees tomorrow. He is in tune with the giant strides of Adenuga in the redefinition and repositioning of African business terrain. His patriotism is not only felt in business but in philanthropy. The bull’s generosity is second to none as he gives generously like money is going out of fashion. To him, wealth is from God and the amount you give to affect the lives of those around you positively gives fulfillment.

More reason his business has witnessed an increase in fortune with numerous mentioning on Forbes magazine in the list of Billionaires in Africa. Last weekend, the businessman of high repute and Globacom boss was part of the Nigerian business community delegate alongside Abdul Samad Rabiu (Chairman of BUA Group), Tony Elumelu (UBA chairman), Herbert Wigwe (MD of Access Bank), and Aliko Dangote (Dangote Group chairman) and Gilbert Chagoury who visited French President, Emmanuel Macron in a bid to strengthen the French-Nigerian business tides. In his quest to further strengthen the telecommunication industry in Nigeria, he signed a mouth watery partnership with French satellite communications group, EutelSat, at the Elysée event on   September 30. The partnership between the two companies would actualize 500 Wi-Fi relay stations to far-flung rural areas, for connection to a EutelSat satellite which would increase the broadband internet connection and also give clarity in calls. The Spirit will never relent until Nigeria retains it place as an investment destination and also strengthen indigenous investment with a partnership that works a source disclosed.
