When Aare Dele Momodu and Wife Stormed Iwo Town

Regarded as one of the most detribalized Nigerian with his ability to mix freely with all sundry regardless of their religious or cultural background seasoned journalist, media-preneur and politician Aare Dele Momodu displayed his influence last weekend when a parade of exotic automobiles moved from Ibadan to the ancient Iwo town as he and his wife, Mrs. Mobolaji Momodu were both installed Aare and Yeye Aare of Iwo Kingdom. The Ovation Publisher has definitely bagged a lot of traditional titles but he seems to have held this in high esteem as the Oluwo of Iwo Oba Adbulrasheed Adewale Akanbi made a good host to all top dignitaries who came in from all walks of life to honour the new Chief. With soothing words from friends and family, Oluwo decorated the couple officially with traditional leaves handing them all paraphernalia attached to the highly coveted title.

The Highlight of the event came at the Royal Palace resort venue for the reception, where Bob Dee as he is fondly called hosted guests to a classy soiree with the very best of local and continental dishes laced with an endless supply of high cost drinks. In his unusual style, the new chief fitted in his wine local Aso Ofi, with his round traditional cap sauntered alongside his wife to the venue in style as they both welcomed guests with a charming smiles on their faces. Oluwo of Iwo, Prince Damola Aderemi, Dr Reuben Abati, Prince Bisi Olatilo extolled Aare Dele Momodu.

To thrill invited guests with musical rendition, Laolu Gbenjo, Sir Shina Peters and Lanre Teriba were all on the bandstand as Comedian and Compere extraordinary Gbenga Adeyinka dazzled with rib-cracking jokes. Those spotted at the event were; Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi, Sat Guru Maharaji, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, Oba Folarin Ogunsanwo, Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi, Oba Joseph Moronfoye Okunlola Iyalaje Toyin Kolade, AIG Tunji Alapini ( Rtd), Sen Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Sen. “IFA Spotlights Wealth and Prosperity as Theme of this Year’s Festival” – Oluwo Osunniyi Olajide

Popular Social media enthusiast, IFA priest and cultural ambassador Oluwo Osunniyi Olajide with the sobriquet as Oluwo Jogbodo Orunmila is currently gearing up for the annual 2021 Ifa Festival. Oluwo Osunniyi also revealed Ifa’s central message for this year’s feast that will be hosting all sundry and also celebrate the rich religious aesthetics of IFA divination.

During a conversation with the highly cerebral priest, he revealed that; the essence of consulting Ifa ahead of the festival, is to seek guidance concerning principal activities. “Ogbe Alara is the divination this year. Ifa spotlights wealth as major theme of this year’s festival”. Anyone struggling with one engagement or the other in life, Ifa is inviting them, to encounter their breakthrough”.

He further disclosed that; The festival which is slated to last for three days, will flag off on October 29 with Ìkúnlẹ̀ Ọdún and Ìbọ́fà Ọdún the following day.

“On the grand finale, 31st of October, 2021, popular artiste, Àṣàbí Ọ̀jẹ̀ Afẹ́nápa will perform to the audience at the grand reception which will take place at Ile Olúwo, Agric Olomi, Olojuoro, Ibadan. Oluwo Jogbodo Orunmila is a well revered priest and culture custodian, who is constantly upholding cultural values and practices in positive light, home and abroad.”

From Agege to Kampala; Prestigious Victoria University witness Sujimoto Deliver Mind-Blowing Lecture

When English Playwright and Writer Williams Shakespeare averred that; “Our content is our best having”; what Shakespeare simply meant was that; when an individual is loaded with content, he or she is fully armed with the requirements to survive life. Some have content with no innate ability to deliver what they have inside of them. For Sijibomi Ogundele; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Luxury real estate company Sujimoto; he is embedded with too much content with a mastery in the art of delivery. Give it to him; he is one of the few who makes a promise and will stand by it even with a rifle on his head. He showed his oratory and cerebral prowess in the issues of finance, business management, real estate management and entrepreneurial success over the week far-away East Africa, Uganda.

In a bid to share his experience in the murky waters of entrepreneurship as an entrepreneur who rose from the rustic suburb part of Lagos in Agege to become a real estate giant in Nigeria; On the invitation of the management staff of the prestigious Victoria University, central business district, Kampala, students witnessed Sujimoto deliver a mindblowing lecture on his journey as an entrepreneur, sharing business principles he never learnt in the classroom. First, he implores his audience to shun poverty ideology. Saying Poverty only hinders anyone from reaching his or her full potential. “Erase poverty mentality and you are on the first step to success.” In his remarks, Sijibomi averred that; Education is the foundation for achieving any great purpose either formal or informal. “we should also learn pragmatic experiences of mentors who are successful in any field we want to delve into. I learnt a lot from M.K.O Abiola. To succeed in business as an entrepreneur, you need to learn Dreaming Big, Integrity, Passion, Diligence and Building a network of great people as assets these principles will help you thrive successfully in life as a business owner”.

The Cosmopolitan businessman further spurred the innate mindset of every young Ugandans to rise and take their own destiny in their hands; “I use this opportunity to call on every young Uganda, those here in this room and across the hills nation, I want to remind you that you are the true asset of this country, That you are 60% of the 46 million population of this nation. That no one will give you a chair at the table of opportunity, you have to create your our chair.  The old will go”.

Ogundele further harps on the need for every Ugandan youth to also leave behind the idea of impossibility stating that; everything can be achieved if there is passion and the will to achieve success. “What about the young lady raised by a single mother, who found strength in dancing and didn’t allow the challenges of Kawempe stop her from Singing her way to becoming not only the Sheebah of Kampala but a music icon of this nation. Great Assets of Uganda, let me remind you, It doesn’t matter how much you have in your wallet today, or the certificate in your Waldrop, if you dream big and embrace the spirit of possibility, you will see that what God cannot do does not exist.”

It is worthy to note that, Sujimoto construction is currently building the tallest residential building in Africa’s most expensive neighborhood; Banana Island called Lucrezia By Sujimoto in Lagos. The residential building is fully automated and armed with luxury housewares along with the finest of finishing enacting and arousing taste for luxury. In the same neighborhood, Popstar Davido currently occupies one of his luxury condominiums Guiliano by Sujimoto; a sold-out even before completion. With other numerous projects like; Queen Amina by Sujimoto in Abuja among others, it’s a testimony that Sujimoto is gradually giving other real estate competitors a run for their money. He has vowed not to stop until every city in Nigeria and Africa has a Sujimoto luxury edifice erected to make the difference.

Herbert Wigwe, Emefiele honoured with Juris Law Award for outstanding contributions in finance sector

The Chairman, Body of Bank CEOs and Group Managing Director of Access Bank PLC, Herbert Wigwe, has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to Corporate Governance and Rule of Law in Nigeria’s Banking Industry. Wigwe was presented the Juris Law Award by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad at the 2021 Judges Workshop on Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020 which held on Tuesday, 12 October 2021 in Abuja.

 

Also honoured with an award was the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele. The Juris Law Award is presented in honour of leaders who are taking significant steps towards promoting economic growth in Nigeria through deepening institutions, corporate governance and Rule of Law.

 

Accepting the award, Wigwe stated that he was honoured to receive the award, adding that “through innovative banking initiatives and our underlying sustainability drive, Access Bank will continue to create shared value for all our stakeholders, striking a balance between competitive advantage and corporate social responsibility.”

 

Wigwe and Emefiele have partnered in the creation of several positive socio-economic initiatives such as the Creative Industries and Financing Initiative; a loan scheme developed to provide access to long-term and low-interest financing for entrepreneurs in Nigeria. In addition, Wigwe, Emefiele and Aliko Dangote were key parties in the formation of the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) – a vehicle created to spearhead corporate Nigeria’s support for the federal government’s fight against the deadly virus. The successful coalition funded the establishment of response centres,  acquisition of medical equipment, supplies and food palliatives for vulnerable Nigerians.

 

The 2021 Judges Workshop on Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020 focused on reforms and the statutory requirements imposed by CBN on all banks and other financial institutions in Nigeria to adopt policies on anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism and cyber security in Nigeria.

 

Also in attendance of the workshop were the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (AGF); Abubakar Malami (SAN); the Appeal Court President, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensen; the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho; the Former Chief Justice of Nigeria and former Chairman, Board of Governors, National Judicial Institute, Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed and other high-ranking judicial officers and the legal community.
