Alara of Ilara, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo Celebrates 1st year Coronation Anniversary

When his predecessor His Royal Majesty Alayeluwa, Oba Akeem Okunola Adesanya ll, joined his ancestors, in October 2018 after being crowned at the tender age 16, ruling for close to 6 decades; The incumbent Alara of Ilara Epe; Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo never envisaged he would be king. He was quietly serving the Lagos civil service as an Executive Chairman of Lagos State Inland revenue service. Like the popular axiom, ‘Kings are Born” providence swung the pendulum in his favour. After a keenly contested kingship tussle from his Telade ruling house, the kingmakers selected him and was crowned as the 55th Alara of Ilara on the 6th of August 2020.

Ever since he was crowned King, his kingdom had witnessed tremendous growth. His partnership with the state government attracted developmental projects that will benefit his people and he has also constantly used his own funds to uplift his people. In commemoration of his first coronation anniversary; over the week he re-awaken the slumbering Aje festival. The festival celebrates the god of wealth, trade and commerce. The Aje festival witness guests from all over with attendance of the Arole Oodua, Ooni Adeyeye Babatunde Ogunwusi who was also present to celebrate with the stylish social monarch. On Tuesday the 17th of August, at the Augustine University Auditorium, he kick-started his first coronation anniversary annual lecture; where stakeholders in government and traditional institutions converged to discuss salient issues that will speed up progress within his kingdom and state at large.
