Many are so amazed why Aisha Bagudu, Wife of Kebbi State Governor; Atiku Bagudu is so passionate about charity and philanthropy. What they are not familiar with is that she learnt the art of philanthropy from her late father who was a community leader who invested heavily in helping people within his locality.
For her love for giving most especially in educational excellence, her late father passed on, she used her inheritance to startup her Mallpai Foundation over a decade ago. The foundation was founded to create an educational scholarship for vulnerable children whose parents cannot afford education and drastically reduce the illiteracy ratio in the country as she believes education is the bedrock of every growing society. With years of consistency seeing those she had invested in grow bigger in life, the mother of six rededicated her life to cheerful giving.
Last week on the 17th and 18th of September, the foundation hosted top government functionaries to the Mallpai 2021 Literacy Day at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. The event was an avenue to advocate for compulsory education and also discuss the approach and possible avenue of educating the growing population in the country as a means of empowerment. Speakers like; Prof. Yemi Osibajo, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, Sadiya Umar Farok, Prof Abubakar Halladu, Finda Koroma, Muhammadu Magawata Aliero, Aisha Babangida, Tallen Pauline, Stella Okotete, Madalitso Kamabauwa-Wirima and a host of others made valid points and also gave their candid advice on the way forward in making the Literacy rate in Nigeria increase in years to come.
