A week to Governorship and House of Assembly elections, Party faithful led by All Progressives Congress, (APC) Governorship Aspirant, Hon. Abdul Ahmed Mustaph meets Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans, (LASCOTA) Alimosho chapter to seek their support towards the re-election of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for second term in office.
Mustaph made the visitation to LASCOTA stakeholders, at Ekoro Alimosho, Lagos on Thursday, following the poor outcome of saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly election.
While urging LASCOTA members and residents of Alimosho Local Government to come out en-masse to perform their civic responsibility and Vote for Governor Sanwo-Olu on Saturday, March 11, He noted that, The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and APC Lagos State are not impressed with the performance results recorded from party stronghold such as Alimosho Local Government Area.
He said, The only salient task at hand is to ensure Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emerges for second term and this is the time to actualize the special statue long overdue for Lagos state as a metropolitan city, that accommodates different tribes to migrate, live and work, but some tribe want to take advantage of this magnanimity to adjudge Lagos As ‘No Man’s Land’.
The former permanent secretary, Lagos state civil service, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said, all the grievances of the association and it’s members have been noted, especially some politicians’ behaviour towards the grassroots will be addressed as soon as possible. “I am giving you the assurance that this will be tabled and all the entitlement will be given while more Infrastructural needs will be channelled to the Alimosho Local Government”.
Responding, LASCOTA President, Alhaji Nurideen Buhari, described the performance of Sanwo-Olu as an excellent Governor. “I am appealing authoritatively to all my members, particularly in Lagos state to sheathe the sword and set aside our grievances to ensure Sanwo-Olu wins a second term bid.”.
He added, “Although, LASCOTA has been training its members but Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had empower and train over 6000 artisans with loan range from 1 million to 5 million naira and empowerment tools to support the artisans to boost their major businesses.”
Whereas, Many of the stakeholders expressed their dissatisfaction as politicians neglect and discourage their efforts to work for the party, The leadership of the association remains a staunch supporter of the second-term ambition of Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2023.”
While giving assurance that proper strategies to ensure absolute victory for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday will be adopted, Comrade BJ Akla, LASCOTA organizing secretary said, “whatever the state government wants to give our association should be directed to the General President not to politicians because we have our structure and whatever being given, get to our people easily”.
