Last week, The All Progressive Congress (APC) inner caucus in Rivers State, Porthacourt, held a close door meeting where; top party chieftain attended and it was agreed in the meeting that; since the APC can’t field a candidate for Governorship election, they have agreed to throw their weight behind one of their former member, Dumo Lulu Briggs.

The politician and business man was aggrieved after the APC primary election didn’t go in his favour. He and his supporters  defected to the Accord Party, where he clinched the party’s ticket to become the gubernatorial flag bearer for the forth coming election. The plan is if Dumo eventually wins the election, he will defect back to the APC.

In a twist of fate, a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Thursday 28th of February, sacked Dumo Lulu-Briggs as the governorship candidate of Accord Party in Rivers State.

Justice E. A. Obile held that there was no record indicating that the plaintiff, Precious Baridon, relinquished his (Baridon) position as the authentic governorship candidate to Lulu-Briggs.

The court also ruled that Lulu-Briggs should henceforth desist from parading himself as the governorship candidate of Accord Party.
