FEMI OTEDOLA SHINES LIKE A MILLION STAR
If there is one thing Femi Otedola, the head honcho of Forte Oil and F.O Properties loathes so much, it is people singing his praise to the high heavens. He is a simple person who loves to maintain a quiet and lowkey lifestyle.
The soft-spoken entrepreneur is of the philosophy that; “you can’t compete with destiny”, Therefore, making all he attained today a divine blessing from God and result of hard work. Like the proverbial golden fish that has no hiding place; F.O, as he is fondly called, keeps reoccurring in the minds of the masses as a result of his good deeds.
The stylish Forbes-listed Billionaire in dollars is generous to a fault. Generosity to him is one thing that has kept enlarging his coast and business tentacles. He was said to have learnt the act of giving cheerfully from his late father, former Governor of Lagos state, Sir Michel Otedola. The real estate mogul has been doing some silent philanthropic work over the years; most especially in the educational sector.
CITYSPY gathered that over the years; Otedola has been responsible for the Michael Otedola University Scholarship Scheme, which was established in 1985 to give underprivileged students in Lagos State access to free higher education. In 2005, his company Zenon now Forte oil, donated N200 million to the scheme’s funding. Since 1985, over 1,200 students have benefited generously from the scheme. He also donated N100 million to the Otedola College of Primary Education in Noforija, Epe. Also in 2008, He donated N80 million to the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Port Harcourt.
Last Sunday, Femi Otedola was a chief launcher at the Catholic-owned Augustine University, Ilara Epe for their fundraising ceremony. A close source present, told CITYSPY that; “Femi was represented by one of his director at Forte Oil. When his well-knitted speech was read to the audience, in absentia, he received a massive applaud laced with a standing ovation from other invited guest. He pledged to donate a well equipped standard Faculty of Engineering building to the school which is estimated to be worth over half a billion naira.”
Otedola commitment to the educational sector is second to none as one of his daughter, Florence Otedola known as DJ Cuppy, is currently sponsoring selected youths for an all-expenses-paid university scholarship. This shows that philanthropy runs in the Otedola family as part of the good teachings the liberal-minded father taught his kids.
