FORMER BENUE STATE GOVERNOR, GABRIEL SUSWAM REMANDED BY EFCC
The axiom that says ‘the rich also cries’, captures the current travails of former Governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Thursday 2nd of November, invited, questioned and remanded him for his role in the spending of the state’s share of the N23 billion, which the former Petroleum Minister, Alison Madueke, allegedly doled out as a bribe to influence the outcome of the 2015 general election.
Former Governor Suswam, who is currently facing other charges for alleged corruption, misuse of Office and Misappropriation of Public funds, arrived at the premises of the EFCC in Abuja at about 10 a.m.
Happenings gathered that; He was immediately taken in for interrogation on the N450 million, which the Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got as its own share of the election kickback.
A close sources in the EFCC divulged that; the former governor was detained in order to determine the accountability of N450 million that he allegedly collected from an undisclosed bank.
