The story of Dapo Abiodun can be link to the axiom that captures the proverbial cat with nine lives; thus, despite not achieving his nurtured dream for years of becoming a lawmaker at the red chambers, he still stood dogged waiting for a political miracle banking of his financial muscle.
For any undergraduate that wishes to get a degree in business related courses, Dapo Abiodun’s success story is a research topic as he has crossed the T’s and dot the I’s when it comes to business; making his company OMS-Heyden Exploration and Production Limited one of the top fliers in the sales of PMS and other petroleum product.
Despite the success he has recorded in business, alas, politically, Dapo Abiodun has not done well. He contested and loosed twice under the All Progressive Congress, APC. His political career received a blow when he joined politics decades ago. First, he had won a senatorial seat under the defunct UNCP in 1996, but his dream was shattered when the then Head of State, Gen. Sanni Abacha, died and all political parties were abolished by Gen. Abubakar Abdulsalami.
Since then, the oil magnate has desperately been eying the red chambers, a dream that never saw the light of the day, despite nurturing it whole heartedly. The last he came close was loosing the senatorial seat to senator Buruji Kashamu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the 2015 general elections; the victory was contested at the court but senator Buruji’s victory was uphold by the court as the winner of the election. After the elections, Dapo went on Lowkey, faced his business squarely. Different report said that he has lost his political prowess, but when he celebrated his birthday last year, it was attended by the crème de la crème across the country, a strong indication that Dapo in 2019 will shock his critic with a master stroke politically, a plot to end his political drought of decades ago.
Dapo Abiodun is a close alley to Governor Amosun. Dapo, however, contributed immensely to the campaign of Governor Amosun at the last 2015 governorship elections, as gathered by CitySpy, the generous money-bag is looking far above the Ogun east senatorial district ; as he is eying the Oke-mosan top job as the governor of the rocky state. His romance with the governor will give him a boost, he has joined the race of the enormous candidate jostling for the governorship seat.
