IS OBESERE BECOMING A SHADOW OF HIS OLD SELF??

When I heard that one of my favourite Fuji musicians, Alhaji
Abass Akande Observe, dropped a latest
album, as one of his loyal fans who has kept glued to his brand from day one
till date, My own contribution is to get a copy of the latest album for my
personal consumption. Alas, I was indeed disappointed with what I heard in his embodiment
of work.

The latest album titled ‘New Alhaji Agba’ is nothing but a Wishy-washy album. I expect Obesere, as
a veteran in the Fuji genre of music, to have done his home work perfectly well
before dropping the album for general
consumption. As a lover of Music and a literary critic, every work of art must
be subjected to criticism.

For those following the lewd lyrics singer from his early
days, would attest to the fact that in his songs, some elements are evident;
elements like, Enthusiasm, Energy and Passion. For these reasons, He has been
applauded by many. The self acclaimed Paramount king the 1st ,class
should have made quality his watch word.

Fall Apart’ as classics. Any work of arts that passes through the test of time and
survives is regarded as classical work. I think Omorapala is not bothered about
being classic. At his status and level
in an industry, where he has younger artiste looking up to him, any materials
that needs to be churned out under his imprint must be regarded as classic and

leaders’, the song preaches a good theme of ‘Good Governance’, it relates to
the current economic situation in the country. It’s a clarion call to our
leaders for a better Nigeria. Obesere shows his flaws with his vocal prowess as
his once sonorous voice sounds deteriorating. It seems Obesere just woke up
from his bed, ran into the studio without proper voice training. His voice was
cracked. To add an icing on the spoilt cake, the backup artiste were fluctuating
from one key to the other. This shows that a proper rehearsals did not take
place before going into the studio. The mastering and Mixing also gave a bad
jab to the track.

balanced than the first track. His voice was not that balanced but he managed
to follow the pace of the beat. All thanks to the instrumentalist this time as
they covered his tracks. He said it in the lyrics of the song that people
thought he had quit music, but in the real sense, when he was staging a come
back it was supposed to be massive. Still manageable but this is not the Abass
Akande we know in his days. He is fast becoming a shadow of his old self. His back
up artiste were a little composed. He tags himself the New Alhaji Agba but not
doing it the real Sikiru Ayinde Alhaji Agba way.

The third track ‘Ara Ile ni Won’ well its a well blend of
Hip-Hop at the beginning with the intro. Danceable track, where he had the
opportunity to hail his fans and his personal people. The song sounded well,
but his Midas touch was average. He also settled down and blended his voice to
the beat arrangement.

In conclusion, personally I think it’s a fair album but from
an artiste like Obesere I was expecting an Excellent Album , leveraging on his past
deeply rooted pedigree, he is supposed to be waxing stronger in the game not
loosing his Midas touch. I think before an album should be released it should
have been vetted by several people whom am sure might not be able to say the
truth to him or maybe he is surrounded by mediocre who cant tell the truth. In
all, its not a good one from Obesere
there is always room for improvement.
