KONGA ONLINE STORE OF MONUMENTAL TROUBLES!!!
When Sim Sagaya is a bubbly young man full of idea and determined to rule the world with his beautiful idea, so, when he launched Konga online store in 2012, little did he know that his lofty dream (Konga) was going to be widely accepted by Nigerians after several failed attempt. Konga, a West Africa leading online store, shot into limelight in 2013, when technology became a necessity and lifestyle in Nigeria. After three years of full operation with successful delivery across Nigeria, it was rated one of the biggest online store in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan West Africa with over 20million customer database on its patronage log. Customers became fascinated with its affordable price, swift delivery and juicy payment option of pay on delivery which was later changed to pay before delivery, due to frequent return of order by unserious customers.
In early 2016, the founder of Konga.com Sim Shagaya, took a break as the head honcho and appointed Shola Adekoya as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Instead of the company to rise astronomically to a magnificent height, reverse was the case. The company is now grasping for life after being rocked with a lot of internal crisis as a result of misuse of office, misappropriation of funds, incapable management among other issues.
According to a source close to Konga.com, divulged to CITYSPY alleging that; ”Konga online store is facing a serious internal crisis. They have loosed millions of Naira to internal theft, as goods worth over 200 million Naira most especially mobile phones and other costly gadgets went missing from the warehouse with no single trace despite the CCTV and heavy security vetting”.
The source further hinted that; ”Some top staff are running a lot of racketeering, most especially during the ‘Black Friday’ and ‘Clean Up’ cheap sales. The Top officials will cart and buy out most of the juicy goods for sale at a cheaper price and resell to people outside at their own price.
The source further added that; ‘To confirm that the company is facing serious financial meltdown, as we speak, Konga will soon vacate it’s mega warehouse located in Ogba Lagos for a smaller warehouse in Ilupeju as they could no longer afford the rent. The company, last December, sacked over 60 percent of it’s staff. As they complained bitterly when their November and December salaries was slashed off by 70percent to cover-up for the missing items which some of the staff knew nothing about”.
