New Role for Otunba Bimbo Ashiru

Immediate past Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Ogun state, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru has never shown himself to be mediocre, no matter the endeavour at hand. The Ijebu-ode Ashiru is a titan of administrative and corporate management, having earned several noteworthy degrees including one in Marketing, Purchasing & Supply, and a Master’s in Strategic Management.

As a commissioner under Former Ogun governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, He played a pivotal role in the increment of revenue generated within the rocky state. Leveraging on his astuteness and steadfastness, he was a close ally to his boss. He was also one of the kitchen cabinet members of Amosun’s caucus. During the winding up of Amosun’s administration, he tendered his resignation letter to quit his office as commissioner. Due to the respect and love he has earned from his principal, he was ordered to withdraw the resignation and continue his good job which he eventually did.

His prodigious abilities saw him through a productive and successive corporate career which spanned two decades and helped him serve numerous institutions and in numerous capacities. Some of the most distinguished of these include his heading of the Private Banking Unit at Stanbic IBTC Bank; Branch Manager for Institution and Professional Banking; Regional Coordinator; Country Director, Personal and Business Banking; Director, Corporate Affairs and Corporate Social Investments; and Head of the Public Sector – which was his last position at the bank.

Otunba Bimbo Ashiru has received countless awards over the years, including the Award for Excellence, Outstanding contribution to Commerce & State Industrialization in Ogun State in 2017. His liberal outlook on life has earned him friends in high places, and the warmth with which he interacts with superiors and subordinates has never failed to impress. No wonder he is noted to be a friend to all and an enemy of none.

These qualities have undoubtedly endeared Otunba Bimbo Ashiru to many an an insightful man. Over the week, the South West Governors’ Forum inaugurated a new Board for O’dua Investment Limited. At a virtual meeting held last Wednesday, by six South-West governors presided over by the Chairman Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, Governor of Ondo State. The newly inaugurated board comprises of cerebral captains of industry like; Dr. Lawrence Olusegun Aina (Osun)-Chairman; Mr. Segun Olujobi(Ekiti); Dr. Tola Kasali (Lagos)-member; Otunba Bimbo Ashiru (Ogun); Chief Segun Ojo (Ondo); Seeni Adio Esq SAN (Oyo).

It’s a new challange and platform of service for Otunba Bimbo, who many tipped to become the Secretary to the Ogun State Government at the genesis of Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
