The fairy
tale of Abu Ali Jibia, one of the top shot in the nations oil and gas sector,
can be said to be a sweet story-line that started off with comedy and ended in
tragedy. Abu Ali’s current situation often create re-occurring questions like ‘’what
his happening to this onetime big boy Ali?’’. Perhaps, maybe the reason for the
question could be traced to his lavish lifestyle, before he was caught in the
act by EFCC. He was the toast of many social gathering as his name span across
the countries nook and cranny as a socialite and a philanthropist.  

In 2013, his
journey of misfortune started when he and some 10 others  were arrested by the EFCC and charged to the
Federal High Court in Lagos, under Justices Mojisola Olatoregun, on, charges
like; Unlawful dealing in Automated Gas Oil  (A.G.O) known as Diesel, Conspiracy, Unlawful
distribution of Adulterated Petroleum Products among other charges. Abu Ali’s company
vessel MT Swordfish, worth Million of dollars, was confiscated  by the EFCC . According to sources closed to
him, at first Ali was not under pressure when he was arrested, because, he had
the backing of some strong godfathers whom he thought would come to his aid cover
his tracks; apparently, reality dawned on him as the case took a new twist and
got more complicated during the Buhari-led Administration.

During the
period of his trying times, CitySpy gathered authoritatively that his close
friends deserted him, those he rendered assistance for never took out time to
see him at the EFCC net. Abu has learnt his lesson the hard way and ever since opted for a low-key lifestyle, reduced
flamboyant show off as the said encounter with the anti-graft agency has dented his image and business acumen.
