SENATOR OLAMILEKAN YAYI’S HEARTACHE

When Olamilekan Solomon Adeola popularly known as ‘Yayi’, made his intention known to contest as Ogun state Governor in 2016-2017, many thought his lofty dreams will see the light of the day. Not until it was truncated by the incumbent Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who waged war against Senator Yayi and made His ambition to govern the rocky state shattered. Yayi was instructed by his political god-fathers to return to Lagos after his hope was dashed. He was ask to seek a re-election for his Lagos West senatorial slot, a post He currently occupies at the Upper National Assembly.

At the primaries in 2018, agitation and clamour for change at the Lagos west senatorial district reached it’s crescendo, many political observers opposed Yayi’s return to Lagos politics, claiming; He should have remained in Ogun state maybe providence might grant him his heart desire one day to occupy the Oke-mosan office.
The party primaries came, Yayi emerged as the All Progressive Congress (APC) Senatorial Flag bearer. Not many were happy with the development but because He had the backing of his political godfather Asiwaju Tinubu, whom they both share filial relationship, many political leaders agreed and choose to support him.

Last Thursday, 10th of January 2019, The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo embarked on a house to house campaign when He visited the biggest local government in Lagos state, Alimosho with Yayi. According to a close source who attended the rally, told CITYSPY that; ”On the day of the rally, everything looked alright, when Vice President embarked on his door to door campaign. Yayi was part of the train with Babajide Sanwo-Olu to also campaign for the APC. Immediately the VP was done and left for Abuja, the unimaginable happened. Some APC Thugs who were not happy with Senator Yayi, started to unleash mayhem. They burnt and vandalized over 8 campaign cars belonging to Yayi and also damaged some proprieties worth over millions of Naira. 
The source further added that; ‘Senator Yayi won’t be finding it easy in the pools with the current development. Despite his financial war chest, He has been running from pillar to post to make sure He retains his seat at the red chamber.
