Nigerian airline operator, Air Peace has offered to evacuate Nigerians willing to leave South Africa and return back to Nigeria free of charge over the recent
xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa in recent times.
The Ministry of Foreign affairs has called on Nigerians to inform their relatives residing in South Africa to take advantage of the kind gesture offered by Air Peace Airlines to return home and stay away from further attacks in the future.
The was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday, September 4, by the spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs, Ferdinand Nwonye.
According to the statement, Air Peace volunteered to send an aircraft from Friday, September 6, to evacuate Nigerians who wish to return to Nigeria free of charge. The statement reads: “The general public is hereby advised to inform their relatives in South Africa to take advantage of this laudable gesture”.
