The Executive Chairman of Agege Local Goverment, Ganiu Kola Egunjobi, never failed to give his late mother, Alhaja Mariam Aduke Egunjobi ‘Iya Eleja’ as she is fondly called, a befitting burial after she was snatched by grim reaper on Saturday the 24th of October 2020, after a brief illness. She was buried same day according to Islamic rite.
The graduate of Sociology from the Lagos State University, has often bragged that all he achieved in life, was made possible with the support of his mother, who sacrificed proceeds made from her fish business to train him and his other sibling through school. According to sources; while mama was alive, they shared strong mother and son bond. “Egunjobi can’t do a week without visiting mama at her place. The death came as a big shock to us all. The will of the giver of life supersedes that of man. We love her but Allah Loves her more. “
On Sunday the first of November, Egunjobi gathered the who-is-who in Lagos political and social landscape at the Agege Stadium, to celebrate 8day Fidau prayer for his late mother. Top Muslim clergymen were present to offer prayers for the deceased. After the Islamic prayers, the well respected grassroots politician, hosted his guests to a white and green colour theme Soiree, where those privileged to have attended were feted to the very best of local and continental dishes, laced with a lavish endless supply of liquor, champagne and other exotic wines. Pop Artiste, Small Doctor also delighted invited guests with his musical performance.
